Rabbi Zalman and Chaya Blecher, a dynamic couple from Yardley, Pennsylvania, are dedicated pillars of their community. Chabad-Lubavitch is a way of living, a movement, and a family that spans the globe. At its heart is a simple, powerful idea: every single Jew matters, and every Jew deserves a home.
The name “Chabad” comes from three Hebrew words: chochmah (wisdom), binah (understanding), and da’at (knowledge). Together they teach us to connect with G-d not just through feeling, but through real understanding, so that love for Him and for each other becomes part of who we are. “Lubavitch” was the town in White Russia where the movement grew for over a century, and it means “city of brotherly love,” which is exactly what the Rebbes hoped it would become.
The Lubavitcher Rebbe, Rabbi Menachem Mendel Schneerson, of righteous memory, carried a vision that no Jew should ever feel forgotten or alone, no matter how far from home or how distant from tradition. To make that vision real, he sent out shluchim, emissaries, to set up homes in cities and college towns and remote corners of the world, so that wherever a Jew might find themselves, they’d find a warm welcome, a place to belong, and someone who cares.
Today, that vision lives on through more than 6,000 shluchim families running over 3,500 Chabad centers around the world, each one an open door for every Jew, everywhere. Chabad-Lubavitch of Yardley is proud to be part of that global family, bringing the same warmth and open door to our own community here at home.
